Long gone are the days when beer was cheaper than water in the Czech Republic in restaurants, and now there has to be at least one non-alcoholic beverage on the menu cheaper than an alcoholic drink. In all seriousness, you will have a hard time to find a restaurant in the city center serving free tap water, but you can give it a try.It must be near a black hole of where you are for imports. I can easily get the following German brands around me: Paulaner, Bitburger, Kostritzer, konng, Reissdorf, weistephaner, hofbrau, Michael Plank, Dab, Jever, beck's, augustiner, Rothaus, schofferhoffer, and a few dozen more easily . Is Beer is cheaper than water! I personally do not drink beer, so my only option is water. In Czech is not typical to bring tap water to the table after you sit down. You have to ask for it, and you also might get “the eye” of surprise that you want to drink tap water. Czech people drink bottled water most of the time.
Yeah I went about 5 years ago when in my late teens, and it was the most fun country of all the countries I visited. A liter of good beer was about 25-30 US cents at a beer store, at restaurants like 50 or 60 cents. The Czech Republik, I have heard is one of the fastest growing economies in the world so I understand why.
Yes, because Czech in Italian is "ceco", which sounds exactly the same as "cieco" (blind) so when you tell the joke in person there's a misunderstanding. I don't remember how the joke goes though. 1. dudewhatthehellman • Europe • 10 yr. ago. This is the exact same in Portugal.
